The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a gigantic scientific instrument near Geneva, where it spans the border between Switzerland and France about 100 m underground. It is a particle accelerator used by physicists to study the smallest known particles – the fundamental building blocks of all things. It will revolutionise our understanding, from the miniscule world deep within atoms to the vastness of the Universe.

Space shuttle Discovery arrived at the International Space Station and docked with the ISS today at 20:03 CET. NASA TV live stream http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/ or http://www.nasa.gov/55644main_NASATV_Windows.asx.

The STS-124 astronauts entered the station for the first time after the hatches between the two spacecraft opened at 21:36 CET.

Shuttle Discovery is delivering the second component (15 tons) of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency’s Kibo laboratory which will be installed on the ISS in the following days.

NASA spacecraft named Phoenix has landed safely in a polar region of Mars today at 1:38 CET after completing a 296-day trip. Few hours later it has sent first pictures. Phoenix is built to stay in one place and use its robotic arm to dig into the soil and ice. The vehicle is equipped with several miniature chemistry labs to analyze the material it digs up.

Samsung unveiled the future of notebooks. The system uses a newly-developed 12-inch AMOLED (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMOLED) display that match the resolution of a same-size LCD but produce a much better picture. The inherent nature of this technology produces a contrast ratio about 20 times higher than LCD. There is no need for a backlight and displays are also extremely thin. First products with AMOLED will hit the market sometime during 2009.

Album je poln živahnih, melodičnih in dinamičnih pesmic, ki po svoji neposrednosti, poskočnosti in odkritosrčnosti spominjajo na Ramones, čeprav, točneje povedano, vse skupaj dosti bolj spominja na Meat Puppets in njihovo mojstrovino Huevos, zlasti še zaradi tega, ker se vsaka pesem odlikuje s fluidno in naravnost fantastično električno kitaro izredno lepega tona.
